Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Monroeville Public Library is a non-profit group that works with the library to provide support for and to the Library through a variety of means. Membership in the Friends of the Library is Free! 100% of all the proceeds and profits made from any Friends event are returned to the Monroeville Public Library and used to fund summer reading programs, purchase new materials, and even provided the funds for this website upgrade. The friends meet regularly on the 1st or 2nd Thursday of the month at 4:00 in our activities room. 

History of the Library

  • The Monroeville Public Library was formed in November of 1936 as a branch of the Willard Public Library. It remained a branch for three years and then seperated to become its own entity in 1939. The Library celebrated 50 years of existence in 1986.

 

Mission Statement

The Monroeville Public Library is a rural library serving the community of Monroeville, Ohio, the Monroeville School District and surrounding areas. Our mission is to provide our patrons access to quality materials and services for their educational, informational, cultural, and recreational needs in an atmosphere that is always welcoming, respectful, and professional. We strive to develop a collection that is representative of the current and possible future interests of the service area.

Lending Policy

A wide range of materials can be found at the Monroeville Public Library including but not limited to: books, audiobooks, large print materials, movies, magazines, and music.

Books may be checked out for a period of 3 weeks.

Movies and Music may be checked out for a period of 1 week.

Hotspots are available on a lending period of 2 weeks. They must be returned in person. Hotspots may be checked out for an additional two weeks if there are no holds on the item. There is a $5.00 per day fine for each day the hotspot is not returned on its due date. 

Computers, Internet & Wifi

The Monroeville Public Library provides free Wi-Fi throughout the building and grounds. The library also has 2 desk top computers that are available for use in the library. All computers are networked for printing. Patrons can print in color and in black & white for a small fee.
